The impression that the ability to sing is a gift granted to a few, while the rest of humanity is in this respect voiceless (and by extension has no music in them) is as misleading as it is unfortunate. In relegating our voice we lose authority and authenticity; we lose psychological power to assert ourselves, physical power to call or summon from a great distance, emotional power to bridge the voids between hearts.
